Re: High School Memories thread.
I'm actually... still in high school!
I was kind of a dick the 1st and 2nd year, so everybody hated me. Now, the 3rd and 4th year I started being less of a dick and climbed the ladder of awesomeness. I'm in my 5th year now (out of 6), grew up and everyone likes me now. So much amazing stuff happens here.
My favorite thing to do while I'm waiting for class to start (sometimes I have nothing to do for 1 or 2 hours) is to annoy a guy called leo. Leo is a concierge who is imo, useless. The only thing he does all day is transport stuff from somewhere to another floor using the elevator. Me and my friends position ourselves on every floor, near the elevator button and push the buttons to make the elevator go everywhere except where leo has to go. Pushing the buttons inside the elevator does not help, because the buttons outside of it are dominant.
One of the coolest things that ever happened, well I'll explain. I don't have a lot of muscle, I'm a bit skinny. Once there was this "cool guy", he has the same classes as I do, so we know each other. He thinks he's like an alpha male, you know the type. Fools around, hits people on the shoulder a bit to prove and show off his strength to the others.
So, I was in the cantina and half the school was there. This guy hit me on the shoulder and I was like, fuck off. He did it again and I shouted, "DO this one more time and I'll put you on the floor". I shouted quite hard, so most of the people heard it and laughed it off, because this guy looks a lot stronger than me.
I might not have thick arms, but I am very good at martial arts. So, everyone was looking to see what would happen next. The guy tries to hit me on the shoulder again, but I avoided it, catched his arm, turned around and put it on my shoulder. Then I threw him over my shoulder, right on the floor. Everyone laughed and he was totally embarrassed.
Mai story. I still didn't bang anyone though, but neither did most of the people I know.

You better get to it then, HS is usually the last chance you have at easily boning girls who are way better looking than you are.Hoi wrote: Mai story. I still didn't bang anyone though, but neither did most of the people I know.
The second chance for that I think is college, but if you go to college, you will basically be broke for 3-5 years, and all the pretty girls will be busy screwing guys who are already out of college and earning money.
Re: High School Memories thread.
While I disagree with your basic on the basis that life isn't about "boning chicks"... I would like to amend that, due to the economy, many people are broke for 3-5 more years AFTER college too.Cheesecan wrote:You better get to it then, HS is usually the last chance you have at easily boning girls who are way better looking than you are.Hoi wrote: Mai story. dont forget university.Cheesecan wrote: HS is usually the last chance you have at easily boning girls who are way better looking than you are.
all institutes of education are equalisers. its when you get out and your social standing becomes dependant on your job and disposable income that things change
Re: High School Memories thread.
Oh highschool, yeah that was fun, it was in distant town so I lived there away from my family since my 13. I remember creating exploding apple (with explosives inside) and throwing it to toilet to scare one guy, creating electronic devices to evesdrop on girls down floor or device to interfere with school/dorm announcement radio to make your own funny announcements. Or having fun with controlling other PC's during some IT lessons - it was in pre-internet, pre-mobile DOS era, but I made software to remote control keyboard and make sounds and view screen. I enjoyed remote finishing tasks in front of shocked teachers instead of clueless people being questioned :)
I got caught after I made virus which infected whole school, it was eating dots you made - pacman came and ate it and run away saying Licho greets you - that kind of gave them hint who did this.

Isn't that from the movie Hackers?Licho wrote: I got caught after I made virus which infected whole school, it was eating dots you made - pacman came and ate it

How is it free if you have to pay back 1 years worth of loans..?Cheesecan wrote:Luckily I only have to pay back 1 years worth of loans, thanks to free higher education in my country. <3
Re: High School Memories thread.
Never seen that. But it's kind of obvious idea, everybody knows pacman :) And I later learned about at least one more virus which did similar thing. But mine had also sound effects and let you type using the other dot key at least.Jazcash wrote:Isn't that from the movie Hackers?Licho wrote: I got caught after I made virus which infected whole school, it was eating dots you made - pacman came and ate it

Yeah, that does not sound very "free"..Gota wrote:How is it free if you have to pay back 1 years worth of loans..?Cheesecan wrote:Luckily I only have to pay back 1 years worth of loans, thanks to free higher education in my country. <3
It's not considered free here, but you don't pay anything for school unless you exceed expected length of your university by more than 1 year and you get money from state for housing and food while studying.
But it's not covering complete costs, you/your family has to pay something too. So it's not free.
Even healthcare is not free anymore, you have to pay about 1Ôé¼ per day spent at hospital and 1Ôé¼ per each doctor visit.

I don't see the similarity there, but ok. I never took art in high school.SinbadEV wrote:This reminds me, there was this guy in a few of my classes (including art) who was an AWESOME artist, I wonder what happened to him (you reminded me due to the HS topic and the one time he was drawing this angel dude with a sword and I asked him if it was Vengence and he said no, it's Lucifer)Panda wrote: teacher who was a religious fanatic (and I knew a lot of them from several different religious groups as well) for drawing pictures of dragons.

I always spend the remaining time of tests, drawing on the backside, and once i drawed some clanlogos on the backside of a mathtest- and it was all skulls, and burning souls, and DarkAngels- morbid neeb stuff, well and the math teacher really looked at me like i was going insane the next moment, when he handed back the test. Said if he would see such stuff on tests one more time, he would hand it over to school council. Me, i continued to draw, but less morbid stuff.
Re: High School Memories thread.
I think a lot of high school students like to draw in their notebooks even if they aren't really into art. I knew plenty of students who would doodle all over their notes and draw little pictures everywhere.

Not a similarity, just a contextually triggered memory:Panda wrote:I don't see the similarity there, but ok. HighSchool Memories + Doodling in Class + Satan Worship = Memory of guy I knew in Highschool who once drew a picture of satan during class.
No one seemed to have a problem with what I drew in HS, which was primarily stick-figures dismembering each other, dragons, werewolves, flaming sculls and bloody hearts... only got into trouble if I did it on test sheets and then only because my parents felt that my poor test scores were due to me spending the test doodling.
I remember one time in grade school I was writing a french test and there was a section to conjugate a verb and instead of answering the question I changed the lines into a continuous series of Mario Bros. Style pipes and drew Goombas inside... I'm pretty sure that was also the time my dad yelled at me so loud and long that I fainted from stress.
Me + School = FAIL!
Re: High School Memories thread.
I'm guessing it's free unless it takes you more years to finish than normal, i have the same thing. Or free till the first diploma.Gota wrote:How is it free if you have to pay back 1 years worth of loans..?Cheesecan wrote:Luckily I only have to pay back 1 years worth of loans, thanks to free higher education in my country. <3

I only drew the dragon for a homework assignment and didn't know that the teacher would get pissed off about it. The other stuff that I drew, I didn't draw on my tests and all. I would draw things like planes (very accurate planes), dragons, stars, flowers, neat little symbols that I saw in or on books, and I even looked into learning about drafting a little bit (I read about it in a book), but that was only for a short time.
Smoth can do some really great and interesting artwork. I always liked his artwork and he was the first person to show me anime that I really liked a lot, like Vision of Escaflowne.

Oh loans were for living expenses before I got a part-time job, not for school itself.Gota wrote:How is it free if you have to pay back 1 years worth of loans..?Cheesecan wrote:Luckily I only have to pay back 1 years worth of loans, thanks to free higher education in my country. <3
Lol dude I paid 20Ôé¼ last time I went to the doctor for 2 mins to get a prescription. Health care is costly in this country if you don't have insurance to cover it or are so sick that you reach up to a certain amount(Ôé¼90 per year iirc) where the government would start paying your medical bills.Licho wrote:Yeah, that does not sound very "free"..Gota wrote:How is it free if you have to pay back 1 years worth of loans..?Cheesecan wrote:Luckily I only have to pay back 1 years worth of loans, thanks to free higher education in my country. <3

How can you not have insurance? I thought its possible just in USA. Do you have to arrange it or something?Cheesecan wrote: Lol dude I paid 20Ôé¼ last time I went to the doctor for 2 mins to get a prescription. Here all people have insurance, you pay % rate from your income - it's like an extra tax. If you don't have enough income or are student/<26 years, you simply don't pay any even if you have income.
And you can pick one of insurance companies, they don't run any checks on you or anything you just call them and tell them you want to use them.
They work the same, they only differ in what extras they offer, some have free gym, some give you contraceptions for free or extra vaccinations for free - like cervical cancer or tick illnesses.
