Power metal tends to be pretty bad, male power fantasy is hard to escape in our society and also tends to be pretty bad, and modern fantasy novels tend to fail at creating fantastic soft texts, so... I agree.

Yes, I do like bands such as Gamma Ray, Lost Horizon, Edguy, Sabaton, Kamelot, ...

And even cheesier bands like Hammerfall or Rhapsody (of fire).

But DragonForce is overrated.

I think Rhapsody was the first power metal band I encountered, followed by Edguy. I actually enjoy Edguy and Sabaton to this day, given the right mood.
