what about people who don't have couches?

what about when you're playing online against my friend, and you're about to kill him, and i hold up a piece of cardboard with a couch drawn on it

why dont i just jam my entire living room with furniture and constantly hide behind it? i could cut a little hole in a refrigerator box and just hide inside shooting at you

will we have to buy special couches from nintendo? (or cheaper madcats ones)

what about playing in an area that doesnt have room for a couch? is that a dealbreaker? or will you get a special voucher when you buy a console "give bearer $200 off his rent from a nintendo compatible apartment" (or go the madcats route and build a small room out of cardboard boxes)
Wow... just to point out, the whole couch thing was just for flavour... I was thinking more along the lines of a rail shooter like time-crisis and ducking at all causing me "hide behind the nearest box to reload" in the game.... but I'm glad I said it the way I did because it inspired such wonderful prose.

@Machete234 - my experience with the wiimote is that it's better than a gamepad for FPS gaming, but still not as good as the mouse.

From what I've heard, though, the Move takes it to the next level and really is hardcore-gamer-approved with fantastic accuracy and reaction time. However, it won't take off anyways just because it's an expensive additional peripheral for the PS3 and it's being marketed at casuals.

REALLY!!!? I would have thought they had finally given up after being violated by Microsoft and Sony (heck, after MS doublescrossed them on the Dreamcast I'm surprised they let games onto the Xbox)... I was certain seeing Sonic in SSBB was them bending over for Nintendo...

While I don't doubt the veracity of your statement I have seen no news on that from myself and will be scouring the internet until I do.

Though thanks to patent/licensing nastiness I doubt they'll succeed even if they had the capability to do so.

I'll believe that when they have the entire staff at Sonic Team commit seppuku.

It was mostly meant as a joke. There have been various "leaked" images of potential consoles, and I believe Sega registered two controller patents in 2009, but there is nothing concrete. I didn't mean to get your hopes up.

Sensen is japan only the story is in Japanese but most of the menu is English. The game is my #1 gundam game because of the combination of point and shoot + fps controls. The controls are great fun. People who talk about the wii only in the perspective of motion control are seriously missing out.

Gesture/waggle/tracking motion points is imprecise due to calibration issues. The wiimote as a point device is reliable even on my 52 inch bravia.

So like I said unless you have really tried these games like this you ate missing out. As far as patents hurting innovation, if people could not profit off of these innovations their motivation to make them would lessen.

I'm surprised Zeonic Front is not in that list.

Or Crossfire, lol. I'm probably the only person who liked Crossfire.

Don't have a next gen console, so I'm indifferent. PC gamer elite squad FTW!

I'm pretty sure I don't like Dynasty Warriors... I only gave the first mission a chance but it involved beating up 500 nearly identical zakus with the same 3 attacks...

Same here... Never even considered a console. Precisely because of the shitty controllers.

Btw, if these controllers track motion via image recognition, wouldn't it be better to have a camera track your eye movement and use it as pointing device? Potentially very fast and accurate.

Next step: Brainwave reading. :P

Mission successful. :regret:

But honestly! It'd be terrible!
All we'd ever have to play would be Plants vs. Zombies, and Apple would take 30% of the profits for everything! The controller would have only one button!

my whole point is that we don't need a better one, we need more games that use the controllers better.

Now I want to play through the game again.. FFFFFFFFFFF

Ah, I see your point now... so basically WiiH3D would make you super happy?
------

Alright, so I have a CRAZY (but not all that crazy Idea)...

Android OS but on a like media center style pc connected to a HDTV with an open platform for the developement of control interfaces, including wii style, move style or kinect style interfaces... then the whole thing is like an "open platform" with a "Annual Benchmark Score", each system would need to pass a certain number of benchmarks to be considered compatible with this years games, and each game would have a target benchmark year... so we come out with the 2010 benchmark score which means the device (and note that these could be the same apps running on Samsung Galaxy Tabs or other android phones or whatever) is capable of playing all the games that were released this year... next year, if someone comes out with a new game that can run on the 2010 ABS systems it would say so on the packaging... but games that needed higher CPU/GPU etc would need to say they were 2011ABS compatible... and so on... eventually you would need to replace your Android Media Center (because it wouldn't just play games) at about the same rate that people replace their smart-phones... BAM, problem solved...

Now I need to call my moms friend and Google and tell him to sell the idea up the corporate ladder.
