Re: [Pop-Philosphy] Work
you already live in a country where you dont have to work. how long did it take you to find a job? a year? more? you're still alive; you work when you feel like it.
be happy that you live in canada, where people like me pay taxes so you can take long "sabbaticals" from whatever it is you do. in africa you would have been dead for years.

Re: [Pop-Philosphy] Work
Actually, I never got around to being "Unemployed"... I was on "Parental" leave when my old job ceased to exist and found a new job before the parental leave benefits expired... so your taxes only payed for my sabbatical because my wife had had a baby.KaiserJ wrote:you already live in a country where you dont have to work. how long did it take you to find a job? a year? more? you're still alive; you work when you feel like it.

Re: [Pop-Philosphy] Work
im not trying to say "oh give me my money back"
just pointing out that you already live in a society where you are given the bare minimum for survival. should i pay less to carry someone and someone rich pay more? certainly. would i like to never work again? sure, why not
my motivation for working is to drag myself from the bare minimum and carve out a little spot for myself. sure, i could just sit around all day, scam disability, stuff like that... but really, one day i want a family, and i feel like i'd be letting them down if i didn't go above and beyond what is expected or required of me. i'd also be letting down my own parents, who worked tooth and nail to provide for me and my sister. if i just sat around all day it would be like spitting in their faces.
im sure you've heard that work builds character. as an offshoot, you'll get used to a job that you hate, and may even come to enjoy it for the fact that you have a steady source of income.
its human to strive for more than you have, to attempt to provide for and protect your family. it may not be easy, but it gives you self-worth. to do anything less is to be a lotus eater
