I've been thinking of doing a 4d ray cast/trace, but I'm not sure I can wrap my mind around it. I'm not even sure generating a true hyperfractal and then rendering it with 4d->3d->2d would be computationally feasible with modern hardware. It'd probably need a 4d equivalent of sparse voxel octree (hyperpixel hexadeci-tree? ). Hell, an accurate 2D mandelbrot set (64-bit zoom levels) needed hundreds of thousands of operations per pixel and that was without any dimensional projection.
