Hell yes, have you tried it? It rocks.
Re: google instant search: Does that really make any difference?
It's not for me, but one article I read mentioned that it counts 3 seconds as an impression for ads, so a boost in revenue.
Re: google instant search: Does that really make any difference?
If you know what you're looking for - not really. If you're doing a lot of searching for harder to find things - hell yes.
Re: google instant search: Does that really make any difference?
my problem is more often not the search speed, but the distract value of the results. There are so many glittery gems to dig through, i never reach the diamond i search for, instead i spend a half hour reading essays on this and that, and suddenly notice with a flare of guilt, that i wasted alot of time.

Let there be recorded: They had no choclate on the pillow, and there were trolls everywhere, so any attempt to sleep was futile.

I had a similar distract factor from looking stuff up in libraries, encyclopedias, dictionaries, the phone book and even my desk... it's not the Internet's fault.Gota wrote:Welcome to the internetPicassoCT wrote:my problem is more often not the search speed, but the distract value of the results. But the internet makes it all that much better.

Thats how the search of my dreams looks like, on the left you enter the first search term, and include filterformulas, you collected over time.
After the entering of the term, the results, sorted by relevance start to rain down on the left, if something comes closer, i drag and drop it above or below the search term, and the rain changes, closing in on the target.

Re: google instant search: Does that really make any difference?
What does it do?
How do i activate it?
Will i not have to press enter anymore?
OK I tried it, its not very spectacular I cant tell if this wasnt like that 3 years ago or not.
Firefox gave you the hints before now its google I think.
edit 2:
It worked now but I dont want google to know what im searching for because its connected to my google mail account.
And Im too lazy to make a bullshit account at google mail.

Re: google instant search: Does that really make any difference?
It is awkward, not really any more useful.
Re: google instant search: Does that really make any difference?
Just imagine you poured 3 or 4 years work into it, and that is all you read.

Yet have to see googel do that thing.

Re: google instant search: Does that really make any difference?
There is too much information available to the average consumer for them to regulate, let alone productively process. Speeding up searches only exacerbates the problem.

A lot of complaints these days are it's vulnerability to SEO and content mills, which are rarely what the user desires.Petah wrote:How much better could they make it. Its pretty much reaching its limits.Karl wrote:They should better making the search system better

Re: google instant search: Does that really make any difference?
Their solution to that comes in the form of expensive manual review and data entry.
