it was extremely awesome. that was on a very very windy day though. normally it only pulls me a little bit.

there were quite a good number of people in the park that day and in true British fashion watched me hurt myself and laughed XD

Those kites are epic, they can pick you up off the ground even when there's barely a breath of wind.

Nothing more fun that surfing across a big open field with a kite on a day that's barely even windy. 8)

If im not mistaken those are usually tied to the body using a harness...
Several people have died using them and one of my acquaintances almost did as well, when it flung him several meters above ground but eventually went down.

This is all untrue if its just a regular competitive kite(hard to see in the video) but that would be strange since i actually own one and this has never happened to me.

I'm not exactly sure what kind he was using, but the kind I'm talking about, a harness would be very unsafe, because it could very easily pick you up and then drop you from very high - the kind I'm talking about only works when it has resistance, if you let go of the handles it won't fly away, it will simply collapse and fall.

When there is that much wind, maybe you should try to take off in the edge of the wind window instead of the full power zone to avoid being lifted like this :) Also, using harness + control bar with depower instead of handles can give you much better control over the pull of the kite.

I have a 12m┬▓ SLE kite for kitesurfing, and with such kite size you have to be very careful about weather conditions to avoid this for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaL60UZJoFY ...
