Re: Victoria 2
I know nothing of this series. What's it all about? The trailer is pretty generic.
Re: Victoria 2
It's about grand strategy.
Making large scale abstract decisions(management of your country) in order to make it be most awesome.

Re: Victoria 2
This trailer sucks. It does not show anything about the game except geographical map. No game mechanics, features etc.
I know Europa Universalis series and love them. I've understood that this is more about economic simulation whereas EU were about governing in general...

Re: Victoria 2
Europa universalis was imho a very boring game that belongs somewhere in the 90's
I know people who like it though.
Nowadays you cant make a game in which you click from one still screen to another it has to be at least a mix of tactics in 3D and round strategy like in rome or napoleon.
And these games need interative tutroials .
With voice and not with text (the designers probably thought "yay we have xga resolution now so we can put in explanation texts of 3 pages"
")

Blashphemy! Accusing some game belonging to 90's on spring forums is like digging grave under your feet.Machete234 wrote:Europa universalis was imho a very boring game that belongs somewhere in the 90's

furthermore, EU and paradox games are different RTS genre than Total war series. Paradox games are simulators of grand strategies, politics, economy whereas Total War series are shallow micro tactics sold to the massess.
True, they would need interactive tutorials so that impatient and lazy newbs could learn the game but hey who acutally needs them? We have our 300 page manuals...
Long live Paradox!

Re: Victoria 2
i tried it out and it feels like a half-assed product in many regards. The ui is poorly thought out in general, especially the right side bar which gets cluttered very easily for major powers, yet you really need the information in there so you have to constantly tick/untick the options.
its also very easy to lock yourself into a constant rebellion (my record was having 9mil rebels in a 9.2m pop japan after 5 years), economy is fucked by your awesome capitalists building a billion useless factories demanding subsidies from you, and countries have a random number generator based diplomacy (major powers will invade you when they feel like it for no reason even if youre maxed and friendly to them)
the computer also spams units like no tomorrow, which makes the game slow down the further you play, and the ui itself starts to lag after a while, making it nigh unplayable ~_~
