Yesssss, awesome book. I loved the sequels as well, although like you said they're nothing like the first book. Highly recommended. :D



Also, I just finished Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion - Absolutely amazing, from start to finish, so many threads in all the books, and yet everything all fits together perfectly, it's obviously the author spent a lot of time planning the story before he wrote the books, fantastic characters and a very intricate and fascinating story. Also highly recommended. :D



Only Heinlein I've read is Stranger in a Strange Land - not a book for everyone, but I enjoyed it. A very interesting book that raises a lot of questions about philosophy and psychology.

As others have said, The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress is good, as is Starship Troopers. Those three are the holy trinity of Heinlein.
