It is classic for me. Very fun for the time.
edit:
God damn it. No AI.

Reminds me of the classic win 3.1 game

Re: Gravity Well - Redone in Opensource
it was like arcade with some RTS to it. Because you fly your ship to a planet, and it becomes your territory, and immediately afterwards your freighter is launched to the planet to start setting up a base. You have to prevent other enemies from colonizing there planets, kill enemy freighters, and destroy enemy bases. You and the other players only ever get 1 fighter at a time. With the AI you fight off maybe 3 to 5 opponents, was pretty challenging. But the vector based real space 2d physics were the best part.

Oh heres the old version demo:
http://www.oocities.com/heckruler83/Mai ... /grav.html
I only rezzed this because of talk on newtonian physics space simulator,( even tho it is 2d).
Would it be possible to make a physics tweak to spring in newtonian physics using lua move ctrl?

Which model of physics do you think Spring is using right now?bobthedinosaur wrote:Would it be possible to make a physics tweak to spring in newtonian physics using lua move ctrl?

I would like this question answered. From my tests with lua applied impulse I'm pretty sure that "F != ma".CarRepairer wrote:Which model of physics do you think Spring is using right now?bobthedinosaur wrote:Would it be possible to make a physics tweak to spring in newtonian physics using lua move ctrl?
To answer this question you can apply forces to units so you could have gravity vortexes but I am not sure how well it would work.Would it be possible to make a physics tweak to spring in newtonian physics using lua move ctrl?

Re: Gravity Well - Redone in Opensource
newtonian motion? maybe aircraft? or ships slightly... i don't really see it. any how i was thinking like google frog was saying, having various objects or gravity fields plus movement for aircraft/ space craft that is similar to what you have in gavity well
Re: Gravity Well - Redone in Opensource
Reimplementing everything concerning unit movement in Lua would be a huge task. Also, at the end, what part of the Spring engine would still be left used? Get a better 3D engine if you're going to reprogram that much imo.Would it be possible to make a physics tweak to spring in newtonian physics using lua move ctrl?
