this image is stupid, even apart from accuracy issues (it's not a quote yet the sentence makes no sense) but similar sentiments can be found in many major right-wing christian groups in the US (and elsewhere, as well as other religions)TradeMark wrote:http://roguejew.files.wordpress.com/200 ... slim11.jpg

You see, now that is genuinely offensive even to me.
Why am I always the one getting board warnings? I just got one for basically posting too much bullshit in off topic, being too critical of the lobby's continual regression into shittytown, and referencing too many obscure jokes. See my user notes.

Terrorism is not a religious problem. Europe has had plenty of non-religious terrorism, various separatists, communists etc.
And studies show that those actually committing acts of terrorism aren't extremely devout to their religion. But they are devout to their social group.
I think social issues, feeling of oppression breeds religious fanatism. For example in Russia all muslim terrorists are from Chechnya due to past conflicts and separatism - though there are other FSU republics with bigger muslim populations..

Re: Denmark,Immigration,muslims
Tips should be voluntary. And Bruce, seriously? wtf? It's true that minimum wage has it's economic downsides, but inevitably it's a necessary "evil". However, constant raises of the minimum wage lower the value of the currency, which is why people get so upset over it being raised. Others, who have little grasp of economics 101 will think it's christmas, but at the same time those are the same people that don't understand that if x is worth 100 bucks in this world, and i give them 10, it is no different than if x is worth 1000 bucks and I give them 100. You still get 10%.Licho wrote:Tips also work as incentive for nicer behavior towards customers, I would not eliminate them.
That's why raising the minimum wage continually doesn't work and causes a lot more harm than good, because prices always rise to compensate.
Now the idiot in example one will yell and scream all day that 100 bucks is more than 10 bucks, and the rest of use with a monetary grasp on mathematics will continue to facepalm.
Back on somewhat topic; The whole resturant industry tips thing is just a scam (on the customer AND the employee, simultaneously) imo, but I doubt it will ever change.

Sorry but I have an on-topic thing to add. Why not just declare things like burkhas (sp?) illegal on some pretense like terrorism? You can't just have people in masks running around, it defeats the purpose of wanted posters and stuff.

It sad, but for some uncompromizing i guess that will be the sollution. Now for the funny part, they are attacked by the left, who fear they might loose there ward&victims, when those people, each and everyone would really start to speak for themselves. If i ever live in a foreign country, get discriminated and hated, i would prefer that instead of becoming puppet for some left movement, who deep in there hearts give a shit about me, and just need me as drama-stage supernumeraries, suck puppet and as provocing target that gets stupid rightwingracists to blow there load upon.

This is offtopic, but the thread's topic is worthless anyways:
Inflation causes value of cash to go down regardless of minimum wage. If you argue that minimum wage shouldn't be adjusted because it just raises inflation, then wouldn't the reverse logically follow? That when inflation causes currency to devalue too far, that minimum wage should be adjusted to get closer to the intended value, since leaving it still failed to stop the inflation?

Re: Denmark,Immigration,muslims
The problem with that logic tho is that it never stops. You end up with a circular battle. Instead of trying to fight inflation using wage controls, there are other ways to do it. Also, figure this, if wages aren't continually increased via a minimum wage increase, then prices will be forced to drop due to decreased demand.
Both arguments are on slippery ground (as I'm sure you're well aware), but my stance is that continually bandaging and issue and not treating the problem will eventually cause an amputation to be necessary, and that's bad no matter how you look at it.
In short, raising the minimum wage at a continual rate will only serve to put off the inevitable. My dad's pre-school, highschool, and college (non - profit organization) just barely scraped by not having to completely shut down when clinton raised the minimum wage. As it was, they had to lay off 40%+ of the staff, just to be able to afford to keep operating. Shit was bad. My Dad was the president of the school, so in addition to laying off all those people, he took a 20% paycut as well as a few of the other administrators who would volunteer to do that.
The highschool kids who were working for min wage cleaning the cafeteria tables, or working part time in the preschool lost their jobs and things generally sucked all the way around.
After all this (keep in mind that my dad has 2 doctorates and 4 masters, so he's easily worth well over 100 grand per year at various places), my father who was only making a little over 40 thousand a year, voluntarily took 20% off of what he was already being underpaid for being the head honcho. Which left him at 32 grand per year and he also didn't take his raise that he was supposed to get.
A lot of people lost their jobs and the rest took a paycut, all because clinton wanted to look good. Then we have bush doing the same thing years later... Sigh, there are better ways to fight inflation.
It may not seem like it, but raising minimum wage causes more problems without solving anything.

It's true that terrorism isn't inherent in religion, however religion is the perfect tool for making people able to do things that are inhuman and repulsive.Licho wrote:Terrorism is not a religious problem. Europe has had plenty of non-religious terrorism, various separatists, communists etc.

It's true though that social problems are probably the main thing that pushes people over the edge and makes them believe that life isn't worth living.
When people are oppressed, or led to believe they're being oppressed, they turn to guns and religion since these can theoretically protect them while they're alive and take away their fear of dying. Actually quite genius, really. I wonder if back in the middle ages people would collect swords and armor for this purpose or it's a more recent development?

Re: Denmark,Immigration,muslims
Regarding tips - i didn't realize in USA they dont have minimal wage :)
Here they of course have (at least) minimal wage + completely voluntary tip which can vary wildly - my tips are in 0-100% range.
Regarding minimal wage - inflation effect is minimal, worse is impact on efficiency of businesses and flexibility of labor market.
On the other hand, long term income inequality leads to bad things - including lower economic growth and social degradation. It also has tendency to widen as rich people become even richer and more powerful. If you end up in a world of superrich and superpoor you kill economy - who would mass produce stuff if poor only need food and few superrich need only 10 jets/year and then watch their virtual number in bank account rise :)
High inequality causes:
- lower social cohesion
- lower population health
- more crime
- lower summed utility of economy (its wasted on fewer useless things for rich with marginal "utility" even for them)
Recently my friend was doing some comparative study about labor market regulation vs economic growth in EU countries and she was shocked - results were completely different than expected - growth and economic well being correlates with labor market regulation... makes no sense..

A slave in the US can cost upwards of 9 thousand dollars
Re: Denmark,Immigration,muslims
I'm intrigued, how old are these slaves? Can they be female? Do I get to choose country of origin or is that a no-no? Are they of hearty stock or prone to disease? You see a lot of that these days. I want to at least have their teeth checked first by a certified dentist, that much is a deal-breaker.

Re: Denmark,Immigration,muslims
shhh stop posting, if we all post, then that means we ALL did something, and that could be construed as us being communist! or gosh even worse, SOCIALISTS!!! I don't know how its socialist but we all have to take it upon ourselves to do our own individual forums, and regulate ourselves, even though your actions are obviously going to be to the benefit of yourself, rather than the greater whole.
