It's nice. Pretty laggy though and requires a good PC to even run at minimum settings.

Shattered Horizon is pretty fun but I'd only recommend you buy it on sale for $10/$15 or so, its appeal is fairly short-lived since there's essentially only one game mode and one (multi-purpose) weapon. Post-release support has been above average to excellent. What I appreciated most was that developers - real developers, not moderators, not PR people, but developers - directly answer questions on their support board.

The gameplay is very novel though, and I'd kill for an announcement that they were buying the rights to Descent. There's no doubt that they know how to create an immersive outer space environment, they just need to hire on a few core game design veterans and a writer and they'd become a real force to be reckoned with.

I look on Shattered Horizon as Futuremark's attempt to figure out how to make actual games while not losing money on the re-training and re-organization process, probably with the intention of putting out their first "real" game now that they've worked out all the kinks.

edit: Once the next content pack comes out, I think the game would be worth the $20 purchase price. In addition to the new maps that have already been released, the next one will add multiple new weapons to the game. The lack of weapon variety has been the biggest complaint about the game besides the lack of voice chat, which has already been addressed.

The last real war, were one soldier, shooting thousands of dumb popup enemys, could make all the difference.

CoD's are boring unless you do something funky like rush with a sniper or snipe with a pistol. There's at least some room for skill there.

OK, so after hearing all this griping about the MP, I tried it online.

It's awful. Really, it's the only part I didn't like.

The whole, "play long enough and we'll finally give you the tools all the guys who've played thousands of hours have, which finally makes you competitive" model makes me want to vomit. It's the opposite of good competitive multiplayer. And the level designs and the fact they didn't tweak the play for MP mean that being a bitch and camping in the most convenient spot > than actually, y'know, playing.

And their instant-matching system is pretty bizarre- I can understand why they thought, "hey, we just won't allow de_dust servers, you either play a random rotation or GTFO", but not allowing people to run stable servers and using their client model means that even on high-speed cable, I drop a connection during a fight maybe 20% of the time, and everything starts getting really choppy when I'm near other players, even though my framerate's fine. Not to mention that support for the game goes poof whenever their matching server is taken down, so they can force people to buy a newer game.

So, yeah, that sucks. Oh well, SP was excellent, and the Special Ops are sweet.

Yeah It Sucks..only one of the most popular MP FPS games out there...
MW 1 was a bit better but This one is still awesome.

Does this mean After a bit of playing youll become the best player?

There is skill involved in even much simpler games..
I'm not some crazy rabid COD fan but It's a very good game IMO.
Not really sure what qualifies as "skill" to you...
