Yeah, I'm beginning to feel like maybe video games ARE bad for us... at least FPSs that is. edit: and MMOs.

i used to go to this net cafe all the time; i remember seeing someone get their backpack thrown onto the road; then when they went to retrieve it they got hit in the back with a steaming bowl of korean fish chowder.

anyways in counterstrike a knife headshot is an instant kill (if you stab rather than slash) so this guy is clearly still using some sort of hacks.

edit : i facebooked the story, and got a google ad for "chinese combat knife wholesalers"

I can't think of too many other past times that are much safer. What percentage of gamers die as a result of their hobby every year?

Fishing is more dangerous, Drinking, virtually any sport, hiking is more dangerous... Hell, I've heard of more people dying while shopping, getting in the way of a robbery attempt or something, than dying while gaming.

Only to certain types of people that are easily influenced by life. I'd like to say retards but apparently you're not allowed to call them that any more.

Chinese people are cool, they play real life Counter-Strike and doesn't afraid of anything.

I hope they teabagged him afterwards. Probably would take a couple of them to fill his mouth, though.

meh. socially disturbed people are socially disturbed. its funny that people would get so worked up about about violence in videogames when there's so much violence throughout history as well as across the globe.

we live in a violent society. if i really want to kill, i can go and join an army. if someone can watch a violent video game and seriously think "oh man i want to do this IRL" then they are just a sick puppy, chances are that person will do something screwy regardless of whether they play games or not.

if anything, it's religious texts that seem to drive people nuts. i wonder how the number of "inspired by the bible" murders compares to the number of "inspired by video games" murders in the last 5 years...

People are influenced continually - any sort of input constitutes an influencing force, you are at least in part created by your experiences.

In a way, yes. But I suppose others are more dramatically influenced and their actions are solely based upon influence. I consider myself influenced continually, but in a knowledgeable and psychological sense.
