Map help

Post by oksnoop2 »

http://pastebin.com/fJqzKQdG--info log

So i just got 64 bit SME working and so i whipped up a 50x50 map in it. I'm a little rusty on the whole mapping process so i'm wondering if i just forgot something. but any way i tried loading the map up in spring and i got an error about a missing file. The link above is the info log. If anyone can shed some light on the error i would appreciate it. Thanks in advance. If you need to see anything else feel free to ask.

Edit: also noted it was not showing map in the lobby. Just put my little start sun in top middle of the gray space. The bot i added was no where to be seen.

You need an .smd file. Just grab one from an existing map (unzip it with 7zip) and rename and include in your own.
.SMD files are normal text files, editable with notepad. Open it up to tweak the parameters - its pretty self explanatory.

what does your archive look like? It should have the following 3 files:

[yourmap.sd7]
---maps/yourmap.smd
---maps/yourmap.smf
---maps/yourmap.smt

oh drr i forgot to put my files in a maps folder. So that made the map appear in the lobby. but now i have a new error. http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/5746/fatalerrork.png

I thought that meant that spring could not give itself enough memory. But I was watching my little CPU/Ram usage widget on the other screen and i never maxed out my RAM. I'm just trying to figure out the largest maps spring can support. I walked down this path a while ago and I never really got any good answers, at least to my memory that is. So i'm just wondering if 50x50 is too big for spring. Or if it's some other act of stupid on my end.

im not sure if your map is too big for spring; it may just be that you don't have enough memory to handle it...

i remember getting the identical error on my old rig when i tried to load that 64x16 map, which loads fine on the new pc
