Mass Effect 2

Discuss the ownage that is this game.

I haven't felt so engaged in a story for a while and the visuals are just gorgeous.

Meh meh meh...
OK..
First of all,I prefer open world RPGs with as least linearity as possible(just to let you know from what perspective I'm writing about the game)

I wasn't a big fan of mass effect 1...I played it a bit but it kinda felt dry to me after a while.
I want to point out that this isn't really an RPG.
This is more of a third person shooter with rpg elements.

The story is indeed pretty engaging and fun.
You feel interested in the world and in the characters not being sure which of them you'd want to escort you along your missions since they are all pretty cool.
The story and the characters are ME2's strong point no doubt.

In mass effect 2 your main character is basically a god with everyone warshipping him because of what happened in mass effect 1.
From the get go Shepard, the char your playing with,is told he is the hope of humanity(it's presented nicely).
The game is definitely not an open world game,it's pretty linear but the story makes up for it with all the cool cut-scenes and personal history of the different characters that unravel as you progress.

The action is fun,the enemies seem interesting but the powers and special abilities characters possess feel kinda limited and there are too few to choose from.

I started playing on the "insane" level of difficulty which is the hardest.
It felt pretty tedious and IMO should not have existed at all or should have opened up after you've finished the game once.
Either you play on the hardest difficulty(all it does is gives enemies more hp and dmg boost)and sometimes repeat the same battles over and over again or you choose a lesser difficulty level and feel you missed out and did not experience the game to it's fullest.

I Mass Effect 1 some levels made you walk back and forth for long distances to complete all sorts of silly missions and landing on planets was also tedious.
Iv played for several hours now and it seems they removed those elements and streamlined the game which is a big plus(I'd still prefer if they improved those parts of the gameplay instead of removing them but its still better way better than just have the like they were in Mass Effect 1).

The sound and music are fun and catchy and do not distract you.
as stability goes,I have yet to experience a single bug and the game runs smoothly...

If your in the mood for a linear third party shooter with RPG elements and developed characters pick Mass Effect 2.
It is a solid, polished title that makes you wanna come back to it and see what happens next.

EDIT:
One minor flaw that exists both in ME1 and ME2 is the fact you convo options are not fully displayed and the short displayed version are sometimes misleading making your char say things in ways you did not intend.
