Where the heck did tories get their name, anyway? Until recently, we had this guy here named John Tory, who was leader of the Ontario Tory party, and I'm all, wow, that guy must be awesome.

The UK Tory Party became known as the Conservatives in 1834 after the Tamworth Manifesto. Wikipedia records the earliest Tory Party in 1678
