Cramped computer

Post by Soul »

Ok so i have this computer that i want up and running.
One problem, before i start it and all i want to be sure that it won't be damaged.

Among things this is the only thing that i haven't be able to solve to my satisfaction.

The grafic card is tightly pressed against the green plastic protection, and as if that wasn't enough to worry about another black plastic protection is suposed to be lowered between the grafic card and the green plastic.

Its hard to get it to fit in the first place but im comfident that i will be able to fit it in with some minor force.
What i'm realy worried about is the proximity of the plastic and the grafic card, will this cause an overheating etc?

Should i just go with it, or should i cut away the black protection or what?

well, the fan is on the other side so it will still get air.
my nvidia leadtek 6800 has lots of copper on the backside too but it does not get very hot there.
i would leave out the extra plastic thing and watch temperatures in your gfx driver controllcenter thing or with some tool like everest.

Its the microprocessor airflow shroud, it covers the microprocessors and its airflow.

Thx, for the advice, the black plastic protection is fastened to the "lid" so if i don't want it i would have to cut it away with a sharp knife.
But ill try the other stuff though, if you say the fan get enough air, then it should work just fine, ill get that tool though.

Btw, do anyknow know what card it is that i have, i am getting drivers for my computer and it says i have geforce fx 5900 ultra :?
But that card looks like this

I know that i should just crank open my comp and check, but im running alot of long duration installations atm.
