Game not letting me play against anyone/anything

Okay, so i downloaded spring today, it had some problems that were fixed using the "read this first" thread. before playing i noticed stuff about signing in and such on other threads. after i got it working, i started a game, played for about 5 minutes before i noticed that there was no enemy. it gave me no option for self hosting or logging in upon startup, and i have no idea what to do. Maybe i didnt check multi-player on the installer? I honestly dont care too much about playing online as i do about playing against a cpu (shitty internet connection), so any help would be greatly appreciated, and sorry in advance for not knowing much about the basics of the game, just a dumb white guy.

spring.exe is just the engine, you need to use the lobby.
