low performance with decent specs
I have nvidia 8800gts and core2duo E6550, which should be more then enough for Spring. But in large games framerate drops dramatically, it even becomes unplayable. And ideas why this happens? I turned shadows off and its still the same. Also, I've installed latest drivers, no effect.

Did you read the whole "common questions" post, at the very top of this forum?
Re: low performance with decent specs
no, but I've just tried what was written there - no effect
Re: low performance with decent specs
I'm using same options, except for 3d trees - i had to turn them off beacuse they caused strange bugs.

Windows XP with sp2
Re: low performance with decent specs
Turn off threading optimizations.
Re: low performance with decent specs
already did, no effect
Re: low performance with decent specs
i think you didn't ... or you did it wrong :)
Re: low performance with decent specs
I'm quite sure there is no way i could did it wrong. I tried both turning off threading optimisation for "spring.exe" and turning it off in global settings.
Re: low performance with decent specs
ground decals too high ? the version from the installer is bugged on that ? i think anyway threading optimisation and ground decals are the things that can slow your framerate, if it's not that it means you did something wrong on your comp, i have the same config as you (e6600 and 8800gts) and shadows at 4096 aa etc and it's just smooth

Let me translate Satirik's post into "what-you-need-to-check"ese:
Its not a "detail level" slider, its a lifetime multiplier, so setting it high makes a lot more decals stick around a lot longer = a lot of decals to render = lag.Satirik wrote:Make sure ground decals isn't set higher than 1 or 2.
