Gigant ping then the game is running

I got a weird problem that is keeping me from playing: then im on lobby or the game is paused, my ping is fine, but then I start playing my ping rockets upyards and doesnt stops growing. What could be the cause and how can it be solved?

broken firewall and/or misconfigured router? also, some AV software (*cough*norton*cough*) does all kinds of weird things to computers.

Thinking it a bit better, I think it might be my connection that is weakened, but before then my connection was weak pinging the lobby would usually show that... now it seens to not show it anymore
