Patches

Post by wise_elfy »

Umm... I'm sort of new to Spring, and I am wondering where to put the following patches:

fix_cannon_range.patch

fix_cannon_range_v2.patch

more_fixes_to_weapons.patch

more_cannon_range_tweaks.patch
My Spring version is .75b2, and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Short answer: You don't.

Long answer: they are code changes for the devs, which are added to the code and then compiled. .75b2 is all you need.

Start a mantis report and attach the patches. Say exactly what tweaks and fixes youve added and justify them.

If the developers have reviewed your changes and are happy it will be committed to svn.

I think now I get it. Thanks to FLOZi for the explanation, and also to AF and Peet for what to do if I find an improvement (not that I have that sort of skill but I know someone who does and I'll try to learn).

If you don't want to play online, there are nightly builds with those patches included:

http://www.osrts.info/~buildbot/spring/installer/

Do not install this in your normal spring directory. Also, this may or may not work, no guarantees.
