Vista crashes

Post by kr0n0s82 »

I have been getting similar crashes too. I play both XTA and BA (latest versions). I never crash with XTA. BA will crash almost every game.

I suspect this to be a problem with just 64 bit Vista versions, but cant really substanciate it. Anyone else want to chime in?

I'm running Nvidia 7800 with latest drivers.

If:
User has baloon saying windows has restarted the graphics card drivers and spring freezes then gives a c++ runtime unexpected application end dialog

Its a Vista crash

If:
User does not have th baloon saying windows has restarted the drivers, and gets a crash report or some other type of crash

Then it is not a vista crash, and your blaming microsoft for crashing spring when they didnt.

There is only 1 single Vista related crash that can occur here, and its graphic driver related and always has the same symptoms, the same sign, and the same result.

If you do not see the above, dont blame Vista

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/di ... meout.mspx

If you do see it however dont blame spring blame nvidia or intel or ati or sis or whoever the gfx card you have is made by.

Yeah, that is pretty compelling evidence that either...
1. Vista is fail
2. Spring is not supported/optimized for Vista correctly
3. All of the above

I've gotten that crash before, it seems to happen mostly on BA. Remember the 'BA crashes too much' thread when 5.4 was released?

Ive had major probs with BA since the new update 0.75b2
The stack dump are very similar to what you guys have posted here and Im also a vista user. If anyone ever crashes out at the same time as me, they are always running vista.

I am also getting this bug, playing XTA 9 with AAI. Using other AIs I do not have this crash.

Link

This link is a replay that will crash whenever I view (always same spot). Odd thing is that I was actually playing the game, i did not crash. It seems to give similar stacktrace. Is anyone else in this thread able to view the replay without dying?
