can't host , can't join...Linux

Post by MAXDDARK »

I use Linux
I've installed TA-spring
and some Mods
but I can't host a game - it starts and quits right away (without an error massage).
when I try to join - it said that I don't have this mod
But I do and I refreshed the list , but it didn't work.

help
totally lost.

Can you host a single player game ? (or just start spring.exe and see if it is working).

I play under wine with no problem. (but can't wait for the real thing which now runs ok at least when compiled with different versions of gcc).

I have also played with wine with no problems. I'd say your issue may be an ATI driver related problem? ATI's corporate policy has been to release really horrible drivers for linux. I'm hoping that will change with the AMD buyout, but I've never gotten an ATI card to work without bugs under linux. Try playing with your settings and resolutions, and make sure that you can launch the game in standalone mode.

Can you run the game, tha actual engine?

Try to, from the console, execute (with wine, of course) the file in .../TASpring/spring.exe
And try to get a game running. Also, this way, if there is any output, you will be able to see it.

Another thing, in a console execute:

Code: Select all

glxinfo |grep render
And tell us the result.
